Home Inspiration

Allergies are kicking my butt, I'm going into the third week of my new job and...

We found our house!! (pictures and a floor plan coming soon!)

We made an offer, the seller accepted, the home inspection is crossed off the list, the ball is rolling! Because of that, the home inspiration is sizzling as well. Now that we have found our house, ideas are being thrown all around and Pinterest is getting a work out.

For the past few weeks, I've been sharing Pinterest inspiration that I want to incorporate into our future home. Since we haven't been the both entertaining or exciting couple you know, I thought I would continue with sharing some home inspiration.

Here are a few front/back doors that I love the feel of and want to make our new home entrance to share the same feeling/look as well.

I think it's safe to say I'm digging the black door look and large lanterns. I especially love the washed out brick on the bottom picture. In fact, the stairs to our back entry at the new house look are brick and I would love to do this to them.

Pray that everything continues to move ahead so this house is ours!

Kelsey

Home Sweet Home

Sunday, September 20, 2015
It's been 109 days since Jordan accepted his new job and I started to mentally prepare myself for leaving the wonderful city of Fayetteville. It's been 104 days (I was in denial for five days) since we started house hunting. And it's been 42 days since we moved to Mountain Home.

That means that we have been house hunting for a couple of months now. Since this is our first house, we haven't taken this decision lightly. But, for those of you who know us well, we know what we want when we see it. We are very decisive people.

Even though we have lived in Arkansas for two years now, we still can't get over how cheap housing is down here! Moving from Iowa, that's certainly something that doesn't always ring true when house hunting in the North. You can get a lot of square footage on a piece of beautiful land in a great neighborhood for almost nothing to what it costs up there in the Hawkeye state.

Like I mentioned in a previous post, our must have list keeps growing but ultimately we want a house that we can fix up just enough to make it our own. Our biggest hurdle we have had to overcome while house hunting is location and views. We want it in a good location (who doesn't?) but overall, we don't want the house next to us to be all up in our face and we really don't want a house directly behind us. We looked for places in the country but the houses we loved weren't in our price range.

So, to keep me motivated I've been pinning like a madman on Pinterest and thought I would share a few pictures that are inspiring both Jordan and I to make whatever house we decide on a perfect home for us.

I love all of the white and the old farmhouse feel.

Again, all of the white with details of black just seems so classic to me.

Exposed brick because, well, it's my weakness!

White subway tile and a big ole farmhouse sink pulls at my heartstrings.

A fridge drawer just for beer?! Oh my gosh! Brilliant.

Colonial times just ring out to me for some reason and nothing feels more like the colonial period than candles and lanterns. I want wall lanterns everywhere around the house. Specifically on both sides of the fireplace and especially the front door.

Until we can get/move into this perfect house we have in our heads (that may take awhile), I'll continue dreaming along side Jordan on Pinterest. Hope you're having a great weekend!

So, my husband sleep talks...

Wednesday, September 16, 2015
Picture this...
It's about midnight. Jordan has been asleep for about two hours now. Me? I'm being my usual night owl self and am still wide ass awake.
Finally, I turn myself over so I'm laying on my side and facing Jordan. Jordan is facing me as well. I decide to close my eyes for a few minutes to see if I can force myself to sleep. I cant.
So, I open my eyes and...ah. Jordan is staring at me. Like full on no blinking, sees through my soul kind of stare.  I wait a few seconds to try and figure out if he's actually awake or if he's just creepy sleeping with his eyes open...
Jordan: Hi
Me: uh. Hi.
Ok. He's awake. He must not be able to sleep either...
Jordan: I told you.
Me: Told me what?
Jordan: That it wouldn't be enough rope and duct tape.
Nope. He's asleep ...and plotting a murder? And he wonders why I can't sleep.

Sadly, this happens more often than not.
A few years ago he woke me up to ask me, "What the heck is up with the color red?"

Another example? When we started house hunting two months ago, he proved that it was seeping into his dreams.
One night I couldn't sleep (are you seeing an ongoing trend here? I don't sleep!) so I decided to get on my phone. While sitting in the dark, Jordan lifts his sleepy head, points to the end of the bed and says, "Whoa! Look at all of those houses over there!"
It creeped me out just enough that I decide to point my cell phone light towards the end of the bed when all of a sudden Jordan grunts and says, "Well now I can't see them because of your damn flashlight."
Lays his head back down and passes back out.

So, what's the point of all of this? It seems as though my Facebook friends enjoy these sleep talking stories so I thought I would start sharing them on here from time to time as well (he is NOT going to like this...) Also, the next few weeks/months have a lot going on so I want to keep the busy me enjoying the small funny moments.
Don't worry, I'll try to have weird conversations with him before we go to bed so it comes out while he's sleeping!

Kelsey

They're here!!!

For weeks I have been saying I have something up my sleeve that I have been working on and for weeks I have been annoying people with no new information. Finally, I can share!

I took a simple hand drawn chalk design of mine and got it printed on koozies! Yay!

So, I like to think of this as the beginning of something great! Introducing my new hand/chalk drawn koozies! Of course, I thought it was appropriate to start with Arkansas.

Out of the big bulk that I got printed, I only have 8 left (Yes - 8!!!) They sold A LOT quicker than I imagined, If fact, half of them were already sold before they even came off the printer. That means, if you want one now, you better hurry to my Etsy shop (link at the top of my blog).

If you don't get one, don't worry! I will be getting another bundle printed off very very soon. If you want to be sure you get one, reach out to me via social media, email (my email address is in the contact me section of my blog), or comment below and I will be happy to save one in the next bunch for you.

Until then, I have been creating a few more designs that will be coming shortly as well so watch out for those!! They include the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Iowa State Cyclones and of course very appropriate beer quotes for tailgating.

Hope you all had a great weekend! Here's to a better week of college football in our house...

XO,
Kelsey

Ghost Adventures Drinking Game

Friday, September 11, 2015
Call me a nerd if you want. I don't care! But sometimes all I want to do is lounge on the couch, turn on Ghost Adventures, light all the candles in the house and enjoy being a little creeped out.

Why Ghost Adventures? Because I hate scary movies and GA fills that void. It's the perfect amount of scare for me. Plus, the guys are sometimes hilarious!

But getting Jordan to watch with me is like pulling teeth. That was until we turned it into a drinking game. It's a win-win! I get the remote (which rarely happens) and Jordan gets to drink without me telling him to slow down...

So, here we go. Here are the rules.

Have a fun weekend! Drink up, witches!

It's game day!

Saturday, September 5, 2015
We've got chili in the crock-pot, football on TV and whiskey sangria's in hand. It may not feel like fall outside but it certainly is starting to feel like fall with this game day cocktail. It's making me want to grab out the fall decor and get to decorating!

When it comes to alcohol, whiskey has always been my go to drink. Specifically whiskey sours. Yum!

I found this recipe on Pinterest from another blogger and it's delicious! I switched up the fruit to apples to make it feel more like a fall drink.

Hope you all are enjoying the first big college football Saturday!

House Hunting

Friday, September 4, 2015
This week has been exciting! I accepted a job offer and get to start next week, Jordan and I have been house hunting, and I have been working on some fun stuff that I will share very very soon!!!

When it comes to the house, Jordan and I are looking for a home that we can fix up and make our own. With my handy man and my love for home decorating, I think we can easily turn a dull house into a diamond.

We really aren't picky people but we keep adding more to our "must have" list. It started as this...

Have you ever watched House Hunters and wanted to smack the people that were way too picky? We are becoming those people! We aren't that picky with the inside of the house but more with everything surrounding the house.

Odds are, this won't be our forever house so one of our biggest concerns is whether or not the location we buy will be an easy location to sell.

Naturally, I've already been searching Pinterest for home ideas. I'm calling my style, Modern Colonial Farmhouse. Not sure if that's a thing, but it is now!

Exposed brick

White kitchen cabinets, black handles, subway tile backsplash.

Lanterns. Lots and lots of wall lanterns.

Beautiful fireplace. I love this one but I also love if the black brick were red brick.

Dark wood floors that looks like they are holding years of stories.

A lot of the houses down here have screened in porches. We love these screened doors as well.

Double front doors are big down here as well. I love the black with the two large lanterns.

Built in mudroom, because....duh.

That sink and stand. Love!

Of course, it will take time to fix up a house to how I have it pictured in my head but we are up for the challenge and I'm dreaming of the day we move into our future home!

Wish us luck!
